Field Trip

A little more shoulder, at the start
I think this is where we're supposed to park
Feels like we're walking, Walking on bones
Digging up things better left alone...

Warmth of a snowbank, a blanket of cold
Reaching down in the pockets of the stories we've told
The sky holds us in like everything else
Oh but the lamp does not light itself

I took a field trip...

We unpacked each moment like we've just arrived
At the scene of a crime that no one survived
You don't believe that's how the story should end
So we keep walking around the next bend...

Darkness reveals planets and stars
Galaxies and universes well beyond Mars
I'm here with you, no trick of the mind
Will take us away or lose the divine...

I took a field your heart
